Picture of the day: A blue moment
Well folks, it’s been awhile… Too busy with this upcoming Christmas season, winding down of my second last course for my Master’s degree and well, basically running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I have lamented many times in the last few weeks: Is it January yet?
Okay, but in spite of the dark and busy time there is time to enjoy it, especially now that we have cold weather and a whack of snow to go with it. If you didn’t hear in the news, we had a pretty big snowstorm last week. I can say that I haven’t seen a winter storm like that here in awhile.
On my way to pick up the little Miss, I noticed that the hoar frost was starting to settle on the trees. In fact it looked pretty nice.
So, here’s your picture of the day, a blue moment or as we say in Finnish, sininen hetki.
Note: Picture taken with my HTC HD7 and slightly enhanced with the built-in photo enhancer.
Is that (hoar frost) why the snow on the ground looks all glittery? I noticed that this evening. I’ve got to try to get a picture of it, it’s perfect for holiday cards!
Yes, there’s a good explanation about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frost#Hoar_frost
Unfortunately the stuff I took a picture of didn’t last very long. It was gone the next day.
