Picture(s) of the day

August 2, 2013

While we were on holidays in eastern Finland last week (and that includes Koli, which I will tell you about later), we made a stop in the town of Outokumpu*.

Outukumpu is famed for its mining history and a really well-done mining museum right in the centre of town. The Old Mine can consume hours of your time if you’re keen on knowing more, and we did spend a few hours there. I’ll tell you about it another time.

What I want to share are the pictures of the quirky sauna rocks that were on sale in the museum shop. I thought they were kinda neat.

Do you now find yourself shaping your lips into an O and wanting to say, “ohhhhh?” Ha ha!

I should have bought one… Especially since my mom said she wants one. πŸ™‚

*Outukumpu is also the name of the international metals consortium.

We have hardly any space for normal stones on the upper level of our sauna stove, but stuff like this. We’ve got happy stone, a sauna ghost, all kind of whistling fountains, etc. πŸ™‚ ❀
