Natural “beauty” is no longer enough

December 17, 2010

I damn near died laughing when I saw the headline “Uusi Miss Suomi saa käyttää botoxia” (The new Miss Finland can use botox) in the November 20-21, 2010 edition of the local paper Länsiväylä. So, new candidates who are striving for the title can use hair extensions, nail extensions and now botox under the rules of the Miss Finland pageant.

My first thought was – what the hell – the new yard stick of “beauty” at this level is stooping to a low level by allowing young and already good-looking women to ruin a good thing with botox. Why on earth does a 19-24 year-old woman need botox in the first place?

So the next Miss Finland may be “preserved” in some form. What you see is not what you get anymore.

Beauty pageants are a relic of the past anyways.

Real beauty is in normal people who take good care of their bodies by exercising regularly and eating well – not by altering them with the aid of expensive surgery and implants!
