Happy belated birthday Blog!

May 3, 2006
This blog turned one on April 19. The idea for my blog didn’t really take shape until I thought I could bring stories to light that people might not otherwise find out about. In the year since then I have had a blast writing stories about life in Finland.

Since that day, this blog has had close to 8000 hits, some 1500 of them coming during the Torino Olympics in February, when people were searching for information on Markku Uusipavaalniemi. I think 95% of the searches initiated where this space came up as hit were for him alone… It was crazy! Plenty of folks are searching for information about Finland. This site is often in the top 20 when people search for "life in Finland".

In addition this blog has been recommended by National Geographic Traveller, as a "must read" if you’re going to visit Helsinki. See the May-June Helsinki feature online at http://www.nationalgeographic.com/traveler/features/48hours_helsinki0605/helsinki.html. Needless to say, I am flattered to recognized by NG – thank you.

And thanks to you for visiting my interpretation on life in Finland. It’s fun, so I’ll keep it coming.

Cheers!
