The Eagles have landed!

April 5, 2006
The Pudasjärvi Eagle Online cam is back! Remember adventures with Weera last summer? Well, a female golden eagle named Aino is currently incubating two eggs (I checked the picture archives). The male, Väinö is dutifully feeding Aino over the first few weeks and Pasi Väntti and his small team of experts predict that the egg will hatch on May 4. Stay tuned at http://www.panoraama.com/live/maakotka/.

Just be aware that we are still experiencing winter conditions here in Finland; and a disclaimer (in Finnish) on the Eagle Online page indicates that to save batteries, the cameras will switch off if the temeprature falls below -5C.

This year there are cameras on three nests, including Weera’s, but she is no where to be seen right now. If you want to see Weera again just check out the Weera 2005 archive on the top right of the page.
Pasi (the "father of the idea") also keeps up a home page called Kotkan Lento ry. See it at http://personal.inet.fi/yhdistys/kotkanlento/nest.htm

Another eagle cam has gone on line in British Columbia (Canada), following the parental adventures of a bald eagle pair. See it at http://www.infotecbusinesssystems.com/wildlife/default.asp
